Grand Prismatic Spring from the air
Aerial photo of Yellowstone's Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the U.S. It is 110m in diameter, 50m deep, and the water ranges from 63-87 degrees Celsius at pH 8.3. 2000L of water flows from it every minute. The color at the edge is from thermophilic microbes, including Phormidium (orange), Synechococcus (greenish), and Calothrix (dark brown).
